Previous experience is advantageous but full training will be given to the right candidates. Commis Chef

Elveden Inn is a warm and welcoming Country Inn. We are proud to offer freshly prepared ingredients from the Estate and local suppliers. The Inn also has six beautifully appointed rooms, perfect for a relaxing break.

The primary objective of the Commis Chef is to learn how to work in every area of the kitchen. In order to accomplish this the Commis Chef will rotate  throughout the kitchen, spending six months or so at each kitchen station before moving on to a different one, which will then allow you to decide which area you want to eventually specialise in.

Salary depending on age and experience.

Working 5 over 7 days per week.

28 days holiday per year pro rata.

Sous Chef

Elveden Courtyard Restaurant have a vacancy for a talented Sous Chef.

You will report to the Head Chef, and run the kitchen in his absence. This is a busy AA rosette Restaurant, you will have a great passion for food, presentation, and a sound commercial awareness.

The Estate prides itself on using locally sourced product, including Estate reared meat and vegetables.

You will be capable, organised and eager to add your skills to a dedicated team. You will need to lead by example, with an ability to cope under pressure providing consistently good standards, and be keen to train and support the team to reach their best potential.


Ordering, and planning stock levels.

Menu planning with HC

Dish costing, maintaining agreed GP and KPI’s

Statutory Hygiene and Health & Safety standards

Managing Kitchen team of 8 in chef’s absence.

Staff training and development.


Hours 7.30-5.00; 5 days over 7

Approx 2 late event nights per month, plus Christmas events.
